Istanbul Lgbt Pride March

Istanbul Gay Pride is a gay pride walk and LGBT demonstration organized every year in Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul. The march 1st happened in 2003 and today starts annually on either the last Sunday of June or the 1st Sunday of July. Around 50 people participated in the first Istanbul Pride March. The numbers of participants have multiplied significantly every year, achieving nearly 6,000 individuals by 2010. The 2011 pride march gathered over 15,000 people, which means that turning Gay Pride Walk Istanbul the greatest march of its type in the Islam World. The Pride March in 2012 gathered 30.000 people.In 2013 the more than 100,000 people joined the pride walk.The protesters were connected with by Gezi Park protesters, turning the 2013 Istanbul Pride March the biggest pride ever happened in Turkey. The 2014 pride brought over 125,000  individuals.The Eu praised Turkey that the march has gone ahead without trouble. Unfortunately, in 2015 and 2016, Turkish Government did not let the Pride March happen in Taksim.
